Why Use the Starter Set?

Why did I choose to use the Starter Set when playing?

There are probably better options out there, especially when playing with elementary-age students. I know there are kid-friendly modules as well. Here are some of the reasons I used this:

1. All materials you need are included in the box. This includes pre-made characters. We used a few of these for students who struggle with reading and writing.

2. There is a pre-written adventure. It is hard enough to decide how to handle unpredictable parties. I like the level of guidance and detail in this adventure.

3. I had already run this game myself. Seems silly, but I think this has helped a lot. I’m familiar with the story, so I can focus on helping students with less prep time for me.

I am still worried a little because this is out of their age level. However, strong safety mechanics and prepping my GMs will mitigate a lot of that.
